The company’s founder, Jullian Preston-Powers, lost a friend to Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) after a motorbike accident in Greece. Doctors told Jullian that had his friend’s brain not swollen and had recovery been faster, he might well have survived.
The experience moved Jullian into action. He found out that most existing helmets use EPS foam inner linings to absorb the impact and that 87% of all deaths in accidents occur while wearing protective headgear. In other words, passive protective headgear is not working at a fundamental level.
Since then Halo® has spent $3.5 million to create the strongest, most technically advanced helmet in the world. With a highly experienced management team and advisory group including industry experts, plans are in place to introduce a range of high-tech helmets and branded kit that focuses on the safety and comfort of the rider.
